A special evening of electronic music curated and headlined by Wrangler who feature Stephen Mallinder (Cabaret Voltaire), Benge (John Foxx and the Maths) and Phil Winter (Tunng/Lone Taxidermist). Wrangler formed in the wires of Memetune studios in Shoreditch, London as a post-LCD, Factory Floor-ed electronic funk machine with VHS tape distortion in its eyes but also capable of sleekness and beauty in the stripped back beats. Their music ranges from the satellite bleep and lonely synthmelody of ‘Theme From Wrangler’ to the alien carnival rhythms of ‘Modern World’ and the ambient ‘Peace And Love’. In between there’s ‘Lava Land’ – all masked, half-gargoyle vocals and primitive drum machines; the gliding, noir and neon of the title-track ‘La Spark’ and urgent, pulsing floor-filler of ‘Harder’.
There are ghosts and echoes of Mallinder’s previous work in Cabaret Voltaire in these songs, especially in the vocals and lyrics, which run like his own internal movie. But the Cabs era it recalls is the unfairly neglected 1983 – 1985, when they released the likes of The Crackdown and Micro-Phonies.
Wrangler recently remixed the new 'Anti-Body' single by Gazelle Twin who also finished recording her new album at MemeTune (with additional production by Benge from Wrangler). In 2014, nearly three years after her acclaimed debut The Entire City (July 2011, Anti-Ghost Moon Ray), Gazelle Twin re-emerged in full force to stage and screen, gnashing her teeth and armed with pickings from her sophomore full length - UNFLESH - set for worldwide release on 22 September 2014.
February's "bleak banger" (SPIN) single - 'Belly Of The Beast' and the 4-track EP 'Anti Body' in May, conjured intrigue from Dazed & Confused, I-D, Noisey, SPIN, The Fader, XLR8R, Q Mag, Radio 1 and a crop of well-established artists including Grimes, Chelsea Wolfe, Mira Calix and Tom Demac. In UNFLESH the British artist/composer/producer - known on her ID cards as 'Elizabeth Bernholz' - explores a newfound, adrenalised-Pop style in greater depth - from the bone-chilling, Iggy Pop-inspired 'I Feel Blood', the stark choral lullaby of 'Premonition', to the Prince-meets-Sonic Youth influenced 'GUTS' and 'Still Life'. Far removed from the artist's former dreamscapes, UNFLESH presents a stripped down hyper-colour, hyperreality.

Formed by vocalist/band leader Wally van Middendorp in 1978, Dutch electro pioneers Minny Pops borrowed their name from a primitive Korg drum machine and their approach from conceptual art at its most mischievously off-kilter. Their association with the legendary Manchester label Factory Records, which began in 1980, would see them produced by Martin Hannett, tour with Joy Division and then New Order, and become the first Dutch group to record a Peel Session.
In 2012, van Middendorp and collaborators old and new regrouped for Minny Pops’ first live performances since 1981, touring the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium, and, along the way, recording a 7” single at the invitation of The Charlatans’ Tim Burgess for his O Genesis label. 2014 has brought the re-release of the acclaimed Factory album Sparks in a Dark Room, and, with the band now based in the UK, the opportunity to undertake further erratic, irresponsible and unexpected live engagements.
